Our perspective
Why we think this fund is best-in-class
Product

Exposure to a high-conviction, concentrated portfolio of 50-90 companies in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Active unconstrained investment approach with sufficient flexibility to deviate from the benchmark, allowing the manager to reflect high conviction investment ideas. Biased towards quality and mid-cap stocks, a consequence of the fund's bottom-up focused investment process.

Performance

The Fund aims to provide capital growth in excess of the MSCI Golden Dragon Index after fees have been deducted over a three to five year period by investing in equities of People's Republic of China, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan companies. The Fund tends to outperform at the beginning of a bull run when markets are focused on fundamentals, but may underperform in markets driven by momentum or liquidity.

Process

Stock selection is driven by a Shareholder Return Classification framework that categorises companies by their return on capital profile, overweighting "Superior" (return on invested capital exceeds cost of capital, stable or rising) and "Positive Transition" companies while avoiding "Inferior" and "Negative Transition" stocks. Final portfolio weight combines this classification with conviction level driven by stock grades and valuation alongside risk management inputs. Avoids investment decisions derived from market timing, momentum-driven plays or technical analysis.
