Selection Criteria

Endowus have selected the Templeton Shariah Global Equity Fund as it offers investors exposure to a diverse portfolio of equities that possess attractive investment opportunities, and are Shariah-compliant. The Fund adopts a stringent approach to ensure the adherence to internationally-accepted Shariah principles and standards, by not only leveraging on best-in-class technology to scrutinise the detailed financial and business activities of each company, but also by obtaining an independent endorsement and monitoring from the Amanie Shariah Supervisory Board, a global Shariah advisory firm recognised for their deep understanding of Islamic Finance. The process is only supplemented by Franklin Templeton’s global approach to investing committed to identifying undervalued companies with no constraints to sector or geography; as a result, the portfolio consists of a diverse basket of Shariah-compliant securities that are believed to deliver long-term value.

Additionally, the Fund is the only Shariah-compliant fund available to Singapore-based retail investors utilising both Cash/SRS and CPF sources, and are led by managers Alan Chua and Peter Sartori, with an average industry experience of more than 30 years. As Shariah investment principles effectively exclude non-ethical businesses, the Fund can also be seen as an ESG fund with a strict negative screening process.
