Product

The Fund aims to preserve capital and enhance income through a diversified portfolio of global Shariah-compliant short-term fixed income and money market instruments, and Sukuk. First Shariah-compliant SGD money market fund available for retail investors in Singapore, offering exposure to Islamic financial instruments.

People

Managed by a team of fixed income investors at BIBD Securities with a proven track record in managing Shariah-compliant liquidity and Sukuk products. BIBD Securities is the wholly owned subsidiary of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD). BIBD is the largest bank in Brunei and is majority-owned (89%) by the Brunei Government. Daily interaction with LGI's investment team (the same team that manages the highly popular Enhanced Liquidity fund suite) ensures robust oversight and strategic alignment.

Performance

As the underlying instruments are in USD, hedging is involved for the SGD share class. Hedging costs can eat into yields and returns, and result in higher volatility and negative drawdowns compared to conventional MMFs that invest in SGD instruments. Regardless, the SGD share class has provided favorable performance, outperforming the benchmark yield (SOFR 3 Months) since inception, and has not resulted in any negative month since inception.

Process

Focuses on high-quality Islamic fixed deposits and Sukuk, maintaining a balanced approach to capital preservation and liquidity. Investment decisions are guided by BIBD's Shariah Advisory Body, ensuring adherence to Islamic principles including income purification where required.

Cost

Institutional share class with 0% embedded trailer fees to achieve lowest cost of access.

As the first and only Shariah-compliant money market fund available for retail SGD investors in Singapore, it offers a unique opportunity to align financial goals with Islamic principles while managing short-term liquidity needs. Note that due to the constraints of only investing in Shariah-compliant securities, as well as due to hedging costs, the fund’s performance may not be as strong as conventional money market funds in terms of yield and drawdown management.
