About the speakers
Kai Thompson, Professional Tennis Player
Kai Thompson, a 17-year-old Hong Kong tennis professional, is one of the region’s most promising rising talents. A former ITF World Junior Top 25 player, he has competed at the highest junior level, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open Juniors and qualifying for the French Open Juniors main draw. In 2025, he matched a historic Hong Kong record by winning four consecutive ITF junior titles and represented Hong Kong as one of the youngest players on the Davis Cup team.
Educated in Hong Kong, Kai balanced elite sport with academic achievement, earning a full scholarship to start at the University of Central Florida in the fall of 2026. Despite having attained this scholarship, Kai decided to change course this summer and turn professional. He is currently part of the Hong Kong Sports Institute Elite Athlete Programme. Known for his discipline, leadership, and international experience, Kai is focused on transitioning successfully to the Men’s professional tennis circuit.
