HONG KONG, 4 JULY 2024 – Asia’s leading digital wealth platform, Endowus, is proud to announce the official launch of Endowus Private Wealth (EPW) in Hong Kong, which seamlessly fuses its technology-driven capabilities with the human expertise of its Investment Office and dedicated client advisors, to provide personalised advisory services tailored to meet the unique needs of Professional Investors (PIs), family offices, and institutions in the market.
This launch underpins Endowus’ continued commitment to democratise access to a broader range of high quality investment solutions, specifically private banking and institutional-grade services, by offering systematic advice and curated investment strategies in all asset classes and investment styles.
Through its proprietary due diligence process, the Endowus team has meticulously selected and made accessible over 400 category leading fund strategies across private, public and alternatives asset classes, from over 80 leading global and local fund managers and investment firms. This covers a broad range of public and private markets, alternatives, quant, passive index, and active investment opportunities for truly holistic wealth management — offered to clients at a low, fair, transparent fee.
“We are thrilled to officially launch Endowus Private Wealth in Hong Kong, and empower investors here to manage their wealth holistically. EPW offers unprecedented access to all asset classes and solutions for individuals and families across cash and treasury management, public and private market investments. Clients today are spoilt for choice with many investment products being offered by numerous wealth managers and private banks, but very few are able to receive advice that is truly independent, personalised, holistic, and aligned to the best interest of the client throughout their investment journey," said Samuel Rhee, Co-founder, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Endowus.
Sam, who was previously the CEO & Chief Investment Officer of Morgan Stanley Investment Management in Asia, added, "Endowus was built on the tenet of being the independent partner for private wealth and family office clients, providing professional, institutional-grade services in both advisory and investment solutions. We are excited about the expansion of our EPW offerings to further incorporate Best-in-Class multi-asset, multi-strategy, multi-manager solutions to help our clients receive proper fiduciary based conflict-free advice and access to the right solutions to help achieve their investment goals.”
Fully human and fully digital
Endowus Private Wealth takes the experience of traditional wealth management and private banking to the next level by leveraging both its unique, innovative digital wealth platform married to a personalised, holistic advisory process.
Endowus’ proprietary private wealth advisory solution provides each client with the absolute freedom to decide how they journey with Endowus in achieving their important wealth goals – through a combination of the seamless digital experience of the Endowus platform and also a customised advisory service in-person. Clients are partnered with dedicated advisors to build out an evidence-based and personalised Endowus Wealth Implementation Process leveraging technology.
Customised to each client’s unique financial situation, risk appetite, and life goals, this proprietary tool created by Endowus takes into account all holdings of a client, even those outside of Endowus. It helps clients to clearly define their desired outcomes and meaningfully invest towards their wealth goals. In the same way an institutional investor, such as a sovereign wealth fund or a university endowment would, through a liabilities-driven, strategic asset allocation framework.
Investment advisors at Endowus are previously from leading global wealth and advisory leaders such as UBS, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Cambridge, Mercer, Morningstar, and HSBC.
Starting the Endowus Private Wealth journey
Endowus's technology-driven approach distinguishes it from other private banking or wealth management players.
Endowus Fund Smart is an innovative build-it-yourself fund platform within the broader Endowus app. In the past, it only housed public market funds; now, EPW clients who are also verified Professional Investors are able to view and “one-click subscribe” to semi-liquid and liquid alternatives in the same interface. All of which previously could only be accessed through relationship managers or financial advisors in priority and private banking segments.
This empowers all EPW clients to invest into hedge funds and other private market strategies with ease without the need to go through advisors should they wish to do so. Investors are also able to manage their total wealth holistically, and to build globally diversified portfolios and fund goals across public and private market strategies seamlessly in a single app.
In just two months following the launch of this feature, Endowus has already seen 3 in 5 investment orders for alternatives on the app. In the same period, direct buying of alternatives in-app has grown to almost half of the total assets under advisory (AUA) for alternatives.
The platform’s growing popularity and take-up rate with EPW clients is unsurprising, given a Endowus Private Wealth Insights Report 2024 launched last month which underscored the need for a holistic platform to seamlessly offer a wide array of assets, correcting a fragmented investing experience where clients have to track their portfolios and investment goals across multiple providers. The study also revealed that high-net-worth investors in Hong Kong picked digital platforms as their preferred mode of investing in private market strategies and hedge funds.
Working with private market industry giants
Endowus has continued to honour its commitment to offering Best-in-Class products by providing access to strategies managed by top-performing global alternative fund managers such as Ares, Carlyle, EQT, KKR, Brookfield Oaktree, Partners Group, and more.
Private equity giant HarbourVest Partners (HarbourVest) is the latest to join the illustrious list. Endowus has partnered with the Boston, Massachusetts headquartered firm to further enable seamless access to private markets in Hong Kong and Singapore, with lower entry minimums for EPW individual and family office clients in these markets (read the full press release here).
EPW clients will now have access to a HarbourVest open-ended private equity structure with an evergreen investment strategy, aimed at providing investors with majority secondary and direct co-investments exposure through a single, compounding investment, introduced for the first time in Hong Kong and Singapore.
HarbourVest, with 14 offices globally, has a more than 40-year track record in private markets and one of the largest and longest-standing investment teams in secondary and direct co-investments. This solution provides access to a pure play private equity strategy, providing investors immediate access to HarbourVest’s robust deal flow with the capability to deploy more than HK$100 billion (SG$17 billion) a year across private equity direct co-investments and secondaries. It leverages HarbourVest’s open architecture and multi-manager approach, with diversified access to quality deals from leading private equity managers.
With current Group AUA exceeding US$6 billion, Endowus continues to cement its position as a trusted partner in wealth management, providing clients with innovative solutions, personalised advice, and unparalleled transparency.
