Endowus further bolsters its expansion plans with strategic senior hires

October 13, 2021

Endowus.com, Singapore’s leading MAS-licensed digital wealth platform has made three strategic senior hires to further reinforce its operations in Singapore. This comes fresh off the back of Endowus’ strategic fundraise from UBS, Singtel Innov8 and Samsung.

Dominic Ong joins as Endowus’ Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategic Partnerships, Deepak Sarda as VP of Engineering and Valerie Tan as Head of Risk and Compliance.

Dominic Ong: Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategic Partnerships

Dominic brings a wealth of financial services experience with 15 years in the industry. At Endowus, his responsibilities include helping to define and articulate the strategic objectives of the firm and developing relationships with investors and external partners other key stakeholders. He will also lend a strategic lens to key growth initiatives – including Endowus’ geographic expansion plans as well as broadening the platform’s appeal to different segments.

Dominic joins Endowus from Rayliant Global Advisors, a quantitative asset manager, where he was Head of Strategy and Business Development in Asia-Pacific. In his previous role, he set up Rayliant’s Strategy function, led the firm’s institutional business development efforts in the APAC region and successfully closed one of their fundraising rounds. Prior to that, he spent a decade at Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong and Singapore where he held several senior positions, including as head of a quantitative investment solutions (QIS) team which developed investment solutions for the Bank’s institutional, corporate and private banking clients.

Earlier in his career, Dominic worked at McKinsey & Company in Australia where he advised banks and private equity firms on strategy.

Deepak Sarda: VP of Engineering

Deepak joins with over 17 years of experience in delivering greenfield software products in complex domains using leading-edge technologies. In his new role, Deepak will be responsible for leading a high-performance engineering team in developing Endowus’ technology platform, with the mission of enhancing our client experience and accelerating growth engineering initiatives. His immediate objectives are to expand Endowus’ team of software engineers, optimise investments in automation and ensure that systems continue to scale towards growth ambitions.

Deepak joins Endowus from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he was Head of Developer Solutions Architecture for ASEAN, helping software developers make a greater impact using AWS. Prior to this, he spent over a decade in financial services, including at JPMorgan Chase & Co, where he was the Global Lead for Observability & Chaos Engineering Services within the Platform Services group. In this role, he was responsible for the vision, strategy, engineering, operations and risk & controls for multiple large scale internal services.

Valerie Tan: Head of Risk and Compliance

Valerie brings over 20 years of experience in the financial sector to Endowus’ next phase of growth. She will be implementing governance and risk management frameworks associated with Endowus’ core business and expansion plans.

Prior to joining Endowus, Valerie held senior leadership roles in major global banks. She was most recently the Head of Process, Control and Governance for Group Wealth Management (Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) & Investment Advisory and Strategy Group) at Standard Chartered Bank, where she was responsible for governance, risk and process control of DPM product management, DPM middle office, chief investment office and digital solutions. In her role, she established risk and governance frameworks for the teams. Valerie had also worked with Credit Suisse, DBS, JP Morgan Singapore and London and KPMG earlier in her career.

“We warmly welcome Dominic, Deepak and Valerie to our leadership team. As a fintech company, breadth and depth of experience in both financial services and technology enables us to serve our clients better. We are our people, and that reflects in our technology platform, investment advice, as well as services we offer today and into the future. We plan to continue bolstering our team with industry veterans as we build a better wealth experience, for everyone.” said Gregory Van, Chief Executive Officer at Endowus.
