About the event

The art market rallied by nearly 30% in 2021, with aggregate sales by dealers and auctioneers pushing past $65 billion.*

As art valuations continue to rise amid growing uncertainty and volatility in the financial markets, some investors are looking to art as a potential diversifier for their investments.

At the "Introduction to the Art Market" webinar, Gregory Van, CEO of Endowus, is joined by Shuyin Yang, Fair Director of ART SG — Southeast Asia's largest art fair — and Francis Belin, President of Christie's Asia-Pacific. They will discuss:

Gregory Van is the Chief Executive Officer of Endowus, a leading fee-only wealth platform in Asia. Endowus’ mission is to democratise wealth management by providing people with access to better advice and products, empowering everyone to invest better to live easier today, and better tomorrow.

As CEO, Greg is responsible for driving the company’s growth and strategic execution. He started his career in investment banking at UBS, advising and fundraising for private equity and venture capital firms in the Asia Pacific region. Greg then joined Grab in its early days and was part of the pioneer team that launched the firm’s digital payments services across Southeast Asia.

He saw the need to combine his expertise at the intersection of finance and technology to empower all investors with access to expert advice and institutional-quality products at low, fair fees.

Greg believes in advancing the human experience of money. Alignment of incentives by being fee-only, coupled with personalising and automating wealth management provides every investor with the highest probability of success in reaching their financial and life goals.

Greg was recently awarded the CEO of the Year for the Singapore market at Asia Asset Management’s Best of the Best Awards 2022.

Shuyin Yang, Fair Director, ART SG

Having worked across auctions, galleries and art fairs, Shuyin Yang has extensive art world experience, much of which has been spent in Southeast Asia.

Shuyin started her career in art at Christie’s, working in London, Singapore and Hong Kong. She then joined a contemporary art gallery as a director of the Singapore space, helping to develop their gallery program and art fair strategy.

Shuyin was appointed Fair Director of Art Central Hong Kong in 2017, where under her leadership, the Fair saw its strongest edition to date. Shuyin brings incomparable knowledge of the Southeast Asian art world, with deep ties and networks spanning artists, galleries, collectors, curators and key players.

Francis Belin, President, Christie's Asia-Pacific

The president of Christie’s Asia-Pacific, Francis Belin has worked for the global auction house since 2016. During that time he has been busy helping to modernise the auction business, a mission that has been given a further push by the challenges of the pandemic. Belin is doing so by breaking down boundaries between different geographies and different types of sale, and collaborating with rival houses.

He has led Christie’s through a period of strong growth, and the company will quadruple the size of its Hong Kong gallery and sale room space when it moves into a new home in the yet-to-be-completed The Henderson development in 2023.

After starting his career at McKinsey, he had a variety of roles in the luxury industry in Asia and Europe, including as a senior vice president of Swarovski and the Japan president of Jaeger LeCoultre before he joined Christie’s.
